Welcome
BackMy computer, for whatever reason, decided to take a crap on itself. You ever had your PC, which runs a FAT32 file system, one day decide that "hey, what the hell" it will now call itself an NTFS file system? Yeah, my PC did that. For all of you laymen out there, that means that my Windows 98 SE system tried to load itself up as Windows XP Pro. Wonderful. That is the OS I have on my laptop, but it doesn't work too well on the desktop, since it doesn't have any of the necessary system files. Anyway, on with the show. An example of my crappy English skills from Freshman year: Drag Paper And now, I give you a tutorial on how to get rid of those annoying messenger popups that I (and probably a lot of other people) have been getting. I'm not as sure of the Windows 98 method, though I know it's something like what I describe. The only reason I'm writing this is because one of the advertisements I was assaulted with was for getting rid of the popups. Ironic, no? So I decided that this was a golden opportunity to spite someone, and pounded this tutorial out. Whoopie! Try the 98 one first, and if it can't find the msconfig file, try the 2000 one. Windows 98 / XP: Start -> Run -> "msconfig" Go to the services tab and find "Messenger" Right click on it and stop the process Windows 2000: Start -> Settings -> Control Panels -> Administrative Tools -> Services Find "Messenger" Right click on it, and press stop Oh, and other thing. If you want to use a spiffy shortcut: In the address bar of your browser, type in where you want to go, like for instance, Yahoo. Then, after you type it, press Ctrl - Enter and it will automatically put the "http://www." and ".com" around it. I thought a lot of people knew about this, but apparently not. PointlessHave you ever watched the movie Pay It Forward? If so, perhaps you remember the plot. Thinking about it, you probably should, since that was the whole point of the movie. Well, the plot in that movie went something like this: there's this kid. He starts a movement where a person does three good deeds for others whom they either know or don't, it doesn't matter. The only caveate is that the person they do the deed for has to pass it on; they have to do three good deeds for someone else. This sway, it magnifies itself exponentially. Well, the movie goes about showing how this system that the child created worked so well that the biggest deed that was shown in the movie was a man giving a complete stranger who had just been in a car accident his Jaguar. Great thought, right? Well, perhaps you remember the end. In the end if Pay It Forward, the child who invents this brilliant system that did so much good is stabbed to death. Not over any particular thing, just because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Nobody had anything against him, particularly, he was just in the way of some punks who were doing something bad. So he got knifed. It was utterly pointless. His death served no purpose, especially considering the good that his life could have served. At, what 10, he came up with this pay it forward system? Imagine what he'd have done if given a full lifespan to work with. But instead, his life was snuffed out for no reason. Recently, a person whom I would consider a friend was shot and killed. There was not any real reason for it, he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. He undoubtably put himself in the situation where something like that could have happened, but there was no reason for him to be killed. This person was doing some shit that they shouldn't have been doing. They had gone out to some parties with friends. There may have been other substances present at those parties, and it sounds like there were, based on testimony from others present. Going to those parties was not a good choice. But it was a choice that many teens make, and pay for after doing so. But they don't deserve to pay for it with their lives. However, in this case, he got a bad break. His friend was supposed to take him home, but because of the substances or whatever reason, he instead dropped him off near his home. Thinking he was at his house, he went into the garage, as he would were he at his home. It was cold, so he started a small fire out of cardboard and paper to keep warm. As he would were he at his home. After a little while, the owner of the home came out and shot him in the neck with a .22 pistol and killed him. He was a kid who had made a bad choice. He was unarmed and had started a small fire to keep warm. Now, I'm not claiming that this guy was some kind of saint. He hadn't come up with a plan like Pay It Forward that would benefit thousands of people in their times of need. But he was, in my opinion, a really nice guy. His parents basically left him shit out of luck and moved to some other city. He was by himself and lacking direction. So he did some things that he shouldn't have done. And ended up paying the price for it with his life. I'm not claiming to know what happened in that garage, but I don't think whatever it was warranted shooting an unarmed teenager in the neck. What I find so ironic is that he shouldn't have been killed. Yet he was shot in the neck, practically the only place that would be fatal from a .22 bullet beside a shot directly to the eye. There was no reason for him to die. He made a mistake in judgement by going to those parties and drinking. Everyone has done that. But it doesn't deserve death. He didn't even die for a purpose. There was no point to it. He was just a kid in the wrong place at the wrong time. Here's to you, Tony Choate. Rest in peace. Performers' Opinions
Wowsers, it's time for the Wendesday update! You know what that means! Take out your chewing gum and put on your oxygen mask, because I frankly don't want to be held liable if somebody dies of excitement. And swallowing your gum, and/or not breathing enough tends to do that. Anyway, today's update is about the opinions of some bands or something, I'm not really sure. By now it should be pretty obvious that I couldn't think of anything to write; let's see if you can spot the difference. Right, so there's these bands and actors and such speaking out against war. If you've ever read this fine piece of interwebnet engineering, you know that I am against war. Oh wait, no, I'm for war. Under the right circumstances. I mean, going to war because Tony Blair scratched his ass on television in an offensive manner is not really worth it, but if it is a worthy cause, I think it should be done. That being said, who cares what these musicians and actors think. So far, here are the performers that I've heard of being anti-war:
Okay, back. So in conclusion, these people have no relevance and are just speaking out about something that they have no knowledge of. Very much in contrast to my well researched and carefully thought out plan of attack to attain peace or war or whatever. Support our troops. Or at least don't trap me on a damn bridge right on the edge of the city I'm trying to get out of. That doesn't make me want to join your cause. It makes me want to ram you off of the bridge with my car. Email me: tyler@childprogeny.com Sign my guestbook. Back to updates. |
