My computer, for whatever reason, decided to take a crap on itself. You ever had your PC, which runs a FAT32 file system, one day decide that "hey, what the hell" it will now call itself an NTFS file system? Yeah, my PC did that. For all of you laymen out there, that means that my Windows 98 SE system tried to load itself up as Windows XP Pro. Wonderful. That is the OS I have on my laptop, but it doesn't work too well on the desktop, since it doesn't have any of the necessary system files. Anyway, on with the show. An example of my crappy English skills from Freshman year: Drag Paper And now, I give you a tutorial on how to get rid of those annoying messenger popups that I (and probably a lot of other people) have been getting. I'm not as sure of the Windows 98 method, though I know it's something like what I describe. The only reason I'm writing this is because one of the advertisements I was assaulted with was for getting rid of the popups. Ironic, no? So I decided that this was a golden opportunity to spite someone, and pounded this tutorial out. Whoopie! Try the 98 one first, and if it can't find the msconfig file, try the 2000 one. Windows 98 / XP: Start -> Run -> "msconfig" Go to the services tab and find "Messenger" Right click on it and stop the process Windows 2000: Start -> Settings -> Control Panels -> Administrative Tools -> Services Find "Messenger" Right click on it, and press stop Oh, and other thing. If you want to use a spiffy shortcut: In the address bar of your browser, type in where you want to go, like for instance, Yahoo. Then, after you type it, press Ctrl - Enter and it will automatically put the "http://www." and ".com" around it. I thought a lot of people knew about this, but apparently not.
